Access System with Elec. Key malfunction
Lightning strike is very possible, sometimes you can find the entry point on the roof or if it has an antenna mast on the tip of the antenna, if it was raining the water carries the current around the exterior, sometime a wheel has a current trail too, sometimes harder to spot. My brother that worked at a dealer and a few friends I work with now have said they’ve seen it in Florida, not super common but common enough that the dealers see a few now and then.
Yeah I confirmed with a few people at dealerships also it does happen from time to time.
That's too bad...but on the bright side you'll get a chunk of cash to buy a new (newer) car.
Honestly, if I had a vehicle that needed that extensive of a repair I'd prefer it to be a total loss...especially if it was accident related...which it isn't in this case.

your right cost vs value is too great to repair
Parts and labor are crazy numbers since it’s dealer price. For those little dealers that buy parts car’s it’s not that bad. Basically swapping all the electrical parts that nobody buys
