My mom recently purchased a 2021 Lexus IS 350 AWD without the navigation system. As I was setting up the car for her, I realized that the car doesn't have a compass displayed anywhere. I looked through the owners manual and all I could find was the the attached Page 248. It says that on the non-nav cars with the 8" screen, if you press the "Home" button at the top of the touchpad, the compass will be displayed. This doesn't happen. The sales guy checked some other cars, and he said they don't display the compass either. I'm wondering if there is; a. no compass installed on non-nav cars, b. the owners manual is written incorrectly, or c. there is a software glitch on all the cars preventing the compass from being displayed. I find it strange that the 2020 IS had a compass in the rearview mirror and now that is no longer included for the 2021 model, especially with an almost $50K price tag. Any insight would be much appreciated.
Nope. Lexus customer service at the 1-800 number never called my mom back and neither did the VP at the dealership where she bought it. Pretty awful. My mom was so fed up she never followed up with either of them. So much for Lexus taking care of their “Guests.”
Does the 2021 have the compass in the top right of the mirror for the non-navi model? Along with an N button on the bottom right of the mirror?
There is no compass in the mirror for any 2021 Lexus IS model. The manual makes no reference to compass mirror instructions, as previous years’ manuals have done.
Have you thought about setting up Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and using the smartphone's applicable navigation (Google Maps, for instance) to act as your compass? For whatever it's worth, even my nav-equipped car does not have a digital compass in the mirror - I have to go into the F Sport gauges and display it there.

She has Car Play and is able to get a compass though Google Maps, it’s just a pain to get everything set up if the phone is in her purse and she’s driving. I checked her gauge cluster and slid the speedometer over since it’s an F-Sport, and there is no compass anywhere in any menu.

Below is why I asked the quesiton.

Maybe it's a Canadian model thing to have the compass in the mirror on some models.
This is the 2021 IS manual for US models. There’s no reference to the compass mirror instructions. 2020 and previous model manuals have a full section dedicated to it.
I have to check when I get home but I am 99.9% sure I don't have that on my 2021 IS350 F Sport (in Canada) - Maybe it's limited to some trims as you said Sasnuke...
Just watched a Youtube review last night on a new 2024 F-Sport with Nav, and it clearly showed a compass as part of the trip computer, as the guy scrolled through the gauges. Not sure why the Nav cars would have that in the trip computer and not non-Nav cars. As stated above, it's a pain to set up Apply Car Play and Google Maps anytime you want to access a compass.
