Don't know if any of you agree but do the configurations of the new IS seem a little disappointing? Why is there no manual availabe on the 350? Of course the whole Lexus demographic thing but hey I'm sure there'd be people interested. Also, why can't there be awd offered for the 350?For me personally, I'd order an awd manual 350 in a second! May just have to look at an Audi S4 instead though the gas mileage and reliability issues seem a little ridiculous. I'm not starting this thread to debate the virtues of rwd vs. awd in terms of handling but for some of us that live where it snows it would be a great benefit.
you ask some very good questions to which none of us have the answers to. a company can only do so much I'm sure they did well just to bring out the current three.
The only gripe I have with the current IS350 is the front brake dust - it sure would've been nice if Lexus could've found a performance pad that was a tad bit less messy on the front wheels . . .
Though the topic is worn out, how many transmission/engine combinations do you expect Lexus to make? These things are flying off the lot as is and Lexus is smart to not have wasted their time and money on a car that would be in high demand regardless of the combinations. Plus I wanted an automatic 350 and the boat would have been too crowded with your IS350MTAWD.
Not having a manual is very disapponting. I can honestly say that I settled when I bought my Lexus. But I have no regrets because I think the IS 350 is the best overall buy, but has numerous areas to improve. My prototypical car is a 50/50 balance of luxury and sport. The IS is probably 65% and 35% sport.
There is no car out there for under 45k that for me gives me what I am looking for. The IS is the most complete IMHO but fails in the following areas.
If the IS 350 handling feel was better and had a manual I would be 100% satisfied. When I say handling feel, I know this is subjective, but when you drive a car to its limits you show know when your at its limits. With the IS numb steering there is no communicative feel. I know Lexus knows its customers better than anyone else but this is suppose to be there etry level sports sedan, sedate driving is for the ES!
