Default Help! Door Won’t Open!

Hello,

I have a 2015 IS350 and the battery is dead. Popped out the manual key from the fob and the key won’t even turn! Is there something I’m doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

It's possible the key cylinder is stuck or seized from lack of use...or...that isn't the correct key.
Did you try the key in the trunk to see if it works there?

Sorry to sound like a newbie but where is the manual key hole for the trunk on our cars?

Look under the edge of the trunk where the license plate lights and trunk opener button are...the manual key cylinder is on the left side.

Thanks! Found it! Key also doesn’t turn there as well. I’m assuming this means I was given the wrong key from the dealership?

The likelihood of both cylinders being seized is a little unlikely.
Is it an original Smart Key (one of the two the vehicle is delivered with), or is it an additional key the dealer provided?
The metal key has to be laser cut to the correct key code.
If you contact the dealer they should be able to find the key code for the vehicle and get a key cut, or cut the one you have if it's uncut.
Which is another question, is the metal even cut? It would look like an inverted cut key, where the teeth are on the inside.

It’s an original from the dealer and it is already cut as well. Seems quite odd that it won’t work. I’ll contact the dealership though. Thanks for your help!

If you have some penetrating fluid, spray it directly into the key cylinder...if the cylinder is seized, it should help it loosen up.
