Default Will there be a 2nd gen RC?

I was curious if there's been any chatter on a 2nd gen RC? Not talking cosmetic refresh but a true 2nd generation release. It seems sales were never big on this car, nor were they expected to be IMO, but I wonder what that means for the model and if they continue to evolve it or what we have is what we'll get.

Judging by how Lexus redesigned the new IS, I don’t think there will ever be a new generation RC (or even LC for that matter). They might just do another facelift eventually and that’s it. Sales for 2 door sport cars aren’t high enough for them to do a true redesign IMO.

I'll have to post up the screen shot I took on the FB group but total sales in the USA for RCF's in 2020 were something like under 300 units. Same with 2019... The numbers are dwindling down. I think when the RC first came out it sold almost two thousand units.

When I get home I'll find the picture and update the post. Totally agree... Lexus isn't coming out with a 2nd gen. The numbers are just way too low. I'm OK with that. It's nice to know you have a car that not everyone has or is on the road. It looses that specialness to me if I buy a car then all of a sudden it's EVERYWHERE on the road.

I'll agree with Nigel on that, also I don't believe Lexus ever intended for the RC to be a big seller. These cars are a special breed for a certain
type of driver/person. I too am glad that they are scarce. I get thumbs up, and waves sometimes driving my RC, and I know it's not intended
for me. Other people notice this too, the RC is just cool. And not a "dime a dozen" like a ton of other cars out there.

If it turns out to be true, it might be the saddest thing I've read today. I was really looking forward to getting into an RC when my current ES lease ends. Since it's still a couple years away, my main hope was that the new RC would have debuted by then. I was surprised to discover Lexus sell in other countries a version of the RC that merges the shell of the RC with a hybrid drivetrain as in my ES 300h and I believe it's called the RC 300h. While I think I understand the reasons that car isn't currently sold here in the states, I also understood that electrification and hybridization will play a bigger role in future Lexus lineups. I always kept this little hope alive that my next car might one day be a second gen hybrid RC. Who knows? Maybe it could come to pass with a future IS...

Exactly, that's why I also chose a Viper over a Corvette cause you see a Corvette on every other corner!

KDiggity - Why would you not go to your dealer and get out of your lease early and get into the RC? I flip every 2 years despite being in a 4 year lease and no penalty other than just having my on-going monthly payment but I love flipping every 2 years

Thanks wthrman2, to be honest, I didn't even know that was really an option. So your dealership takes the car back really with no penalty? The thought of the penalty I'd been imagining is certainly one deterrent for me. For the current gen RC, though, my principal drawback with that car is the poor gas mileage I'd be getting where I live especially because it's hilly. Real world gas mileage around here is about 16 mpg with a ~300 hp V6. That's exactly what I was seeing in my previous Accord V6 coupe. I'm getting 35 mpg with my ES300h. I don't drive that many miles but for me, it's about my footprint. That's why I was lamenting the lack of availability of an RC 300h here in the states. This RC is such a beautiful car though!
