Merged 2021 IS re-design / refresh threads
I drove the 2021 IS300 yesterday.
Compared to my wife's 2017 IS200t, the 2021 seems to have slightly softer springing and softer damping too, however the springing/damping of the 2021 is still a touch sporty.
The 2021 IS300 seems to have more sound dampening reducing both road and engine noise, but the IS is still quite loud compared to GS; maybe the IS glass is too thin - I did not measure with calipers.
The engine might have a tad more bottom end punch, but the four cylinder still has that low RPM drone not found in C Class nor 3 Series.
At full throttle the Lexus four cylinder is decently smooth, but still no match for a six, although I can't help thinking that TMC's narrower bore and longer stroke results in a coarser four cylinder than Benz and BMW?
Overall a good major refresh.
The map seems to have lost full screen mode?
Plenty of rear foot room and rear legroom, however the tapered roofline and the tapered rear doors results in only satisfactory rear headroom and satisfactory rear shoulder room.
I don't think IS will affect C Class nor 3 Series sales, but the aging IS should outsell the pants off the Genesis G70.
