I like the design, however, I hate that Lexus made the IS is 5 inches longer at just over 185 inches. I'll probably buy an Audi RS3 next just so that I can be sure it's easy to park in the city. I do like that the ML system in the IS is now 1800 watts.

From a previous owner of a 2006 IS250 and then a 2014 IS350 F-sport. I love what lexus did with the new 2021 model. But it is still not enough to get me to come back to the IS line until they upgrade those outdated engines. From a performance standpoint those engines are no longer in line with any of the luxury brands and the mpg numbers are decades behind. I am still a lexus owner with the wife owning a current 2020 GX460 with also an outdated infotainment and V8 engine but we leased hoping lexus would update these cars down the road.

For those who compared a model 3 to the IS i own a Model 3 performance which feels much more firmer which reminds of driving my 2014 IS350 Fsport in Sport+ mode all the time. Of course straight line speed is twice as fast as my previous IS and the the new track mode does bring the car alive better than my IS ever did. I did have some hope that Lexus would have done more to the IS like carrying over the BMW sourced engine from the supra or the TT engine from the LS.

When do you think “build it now” will appear on Lexus website? After pricing is announced?

Just a quick little render of the new IS on our F25 wheels. Honestly, after owning 2 previous 3IS's I think this one takes the cake in terms of styling. The rear will take some time getting used to though. Engines do drastically need to be upgraded.

I think they'll announce a sale date and pricing at the same time and that's when that will be added. If I had to guess, I'd probably say September.

Question Dumb Question - 2021 IS350 FSport

Maybe this post belongs in the Simple/Dumb Questions thread but posting here coz it's regarding the 2021 IS350 FSport. Is this the 2021 IS thread? It says "Merged".

Anyway, on almost all positive reviews on the IS350 FSport, one main point that often arises is in effect "even with the lack of power all components work together to create a great car/ride".

Other than taking your car to the racetrack & driving it there, or Germany, where exactly does this complaint about needing more & more power stem from - where can you actually benefit from additional power without getting pulled over & a $100+ speeding ticket?

EDIT: another point from personal experience is that I have a 3rd Gen IS350 FSport RWD, and on every green light, with very little effort & even in Eco mode, I leave everyone else in the dust. 1/2 mile out they're all wayyyy back in the rear view mirror. This is also the same case already with momentum on the highway, and even versus Audi, BMW, Benz, etc.

I got your point. And I'm happy with the way it is, and not at all surprised on the 2021 release...its a Lexus since day 1. Theyre not out to compete with XYZ, never have, and likely never will. Its almost a senseless argument or tiff to have really. There has always been even a Camry which will beat the a sporty model Lexus within a few years.

But anyways....there's something special about going from 70 to 120 like THAT. Or feathering the throttle just to keep the wheels from chirping. I get the need for speed, but also agree for a daily driver around town we got "enough". If you want an M3, go get one. Lexus doesn't and won't have one. Just not who they are.

Idk if I make any sense today lol..

The power on the Is350 is adequate. It's a good mid-end solution but the people that left just wanted more power. The IS350 is a really well balanced car. It's the difference between leaving the average car behind vs competing with other high end cars. We have to also compare it to it's competitors. It's now only as fast as the base BMW 330 and Audi A4 Quattro.

^^ There are only so many shapes and sizes that exhaust tips can take - Acura is bringing back the quad tip which was on vehicle in the mid 2000's. I am not sure which form I like best, the 2013 style or the 2017 style but either are fine with me. Given the choice, I would rather be driving a well-designed and styled vehicle than the more powerful G70 that will be released with a hideous front and rear design...It will be interesting to see how the G70 will sell but the leaked photos are hideous

seems like a downgrade in many ways...just makes owning the 3IS even better but going forward...could be a Gen. to skip

the Rear isn't too bad but the front definitely looks like minimal attention was given...mashing up the Lights up front just looks clunky...imo

reminds me of:

As far as design effort goes, it does look like the rear seems more styled, more attention to detail paid. The front does look decently nice... but looks overly simplified.. like something a 1st-year design student would make. Or something you'd see in a Grand Theft Auto video game. Like.. hmm "draw me a modern luxury car" you have 10 minutes.

again not ugly or not even bad. just not very thoughtful i guess.

I think the car actually looks better from every angle but the back, which is kinda growing on me. The looks of this refresh/redesign isn't the problem imo.

I wonder if they upgraded the speaker drivers & amplifer straight out of the ES 350. Looks like they added coaxial mid/tweeter driver to the rear and got rid of the standalone mid or tweeter in the rear shelf.

The available Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound Audio System is also enhanced, with the previous system expanding from 15 speakers with 835 watts of power to a 17-speaker system with a new amplifier offering an impressive 1,800 watts. The new Mark Levinson system aimed to reduce interference, improve output (aided by the addition of two speakers), and improve overall sound quality with new EQ tuning. Rear surround speakers have been changed to tweeter/mid-range combination Unity speakers. The audio amplifier has enhanced Quantum Logic Surround for playback of compressed sound sources and to provide a 7.1 surround sound listening experience.
