Default Mark Levinston audio issues (blown sub)

Hey guys i seem to have blown my sub in my car, after speaking to Lexus they said the issue is common and sometimes is cause by UV damage but let’s keep it real i listen to music kinda loud and i love bass. I was looking to replace the sub which is online like $390-ish or maybe going aftermarket. My question is if i remove the ML sub will my audio system still work? I may just remove the sub and add a sub in a trunk with it’s own amp, I’m still working out the detail and what i wanna do. Any input is welcome. Thanks y’all!

I say have it replaced. Are you still in waranty? this seems like the kind of thing that should be replaced. I vote replace the blown sub. If you ever go to sell the car, a blown sub isnt going to help resale price. Then, since you love bass, get some 10 or 12" subs in the trunk. that what I have and I love it.

The car is a 2014, i just wanted to know my options before i went and replaced. $400 for a factory sub hope it doesn’t happen again and it was just bad luck lol

I heard a rumor that If you unplug it that the rest of the audio system doesn’t work, but I’m guessing that’s not true lol

That's definitely doable. You can totally just remove it and go with an aftermarket amp and sub combo. Personally Id have it fixed. Depending on what setup youre going to do, youre going to be in the ballpark of 400$ anyways, especially if youre not doing the install.

If i do the oem one i know i can attempt to do it myself, along with some friends. I’ve watch a few videos and it doesn’t look terriblely hard but i was just feeling my options out. I also saw repair threads where people fix it with a hot glue gun

And it works with the factory ML system? I know you gotta get an amp and box but what i mean is if i take out the sub, i can run another sub and the rest of my audio will still work?
