Default Installing GS-F/RC-F front lower control arm bushing?

Hey all, I'm ready to purchase the GS-F/RC-F front lower control arm bushing. Would any auto shop be able to install this? So far I've only got a quote from one and they're asking $350 plus alignment... seems high, but I can't do it myself. Any advice?

Chris

I just ordered a set of these as well and waiting for them to arrive. It should be just an oem swap as far as I know. I’ll probably end up doing it myself. I’m going to use the YouTube video my specone as my guide.

Multiple threads on this. It’s a direct OEM swap nothing special needed. A 1-2 hour DIY.

just need a floor jack and jack stands. The tools as well. You could always get a mobile mechanic, but that price sounds about right for labor and alignment. I do plan on getting the bushings on, putting on new tires, and do the alignment for good measure.

If you have a lift it should take 30 minutes at most, remove the covers and braces. I paid the mechanics 50 for install and 80 for 4 wheel alignment

Yeah...$350 plus alignment is definitely high.
$350 including alignment is still high.

Jack...jack stands (2)...basic hand tools...torque wrench...you're pretty much good to go.
Having said that...some may not be comfortable working under a car that's on stands...and that's totally understandable.

If you take it to a shop it should take less time than it would to change oil/filter on the IS...less complicated too.

Your location will really dictate market price though...around me a decent alignment will run you $80-$100 CAD and swapping the bushings should be about $100 CAD.
Maybe the shop that quoted you thinks you have to press the bushings out of the bracket...maybe they don't realize it's just a bolt-on part.

$100 to swap out bushings to the rcf/gsf ones in the CA bay area. Alignment is separate and recommended, but honestly not necessary.

Phasma, I've been looking for that video on Youtube with no luck - any pointers?

@darkfire Here is a video specOne did of replacing the bushing with the RRRacing one.

This will get you to the point of removing the old ones at least. Then just install the GSF/RCF ones and reassemble in reverse order.

Thanks @Sasnuke - after viewing this, I think I can handle it myself, even without a lift. I'm going for it.

Sasnuke - I always appreciate people that go through the effort of posting videos to help others - Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand word!
