Default IS200t Sluggish

Hey guys, I just traded in my 2016 IS200t and got a new IS300 base and have noticed that this new car feels much quicker and more responsive. I did a quick search and couldn’t find anything on this, but does anyone know if for these newer models Lexus Made and engine tweaks or modifications to the transmission? It seems as if this car is actually ready to go when I hit the pedal whereas the 2016 was always missing some pep in its step...
thanks!

If it's a 2019 then yes they revised the ECU.

The only details given were in the press kit:

New Standard Features:
  • Revised ECU programming on rear-wheel drive IS 300s for improved throttle response, optimized transmission shifts and quicker turbocharger response

Good news for you J0rg305, but toyota won't release the updates to those of us who have to drive this thing everyday. Makes no sense, this update should be applied to all prior years. It's what all other manufacturers would do; I wonder if the 0-60 time is now changed?

Does IS200t have 2.0 turbo? German 2.0 turbo now puts out 280 horse.

The new X2 230i M Sport (4 turbo) will push 300 horse and 330 lb ft of torque. BMW is doing amazing things with the new turbo 4s and 6s. so much so, Toyota selected BMW as the supplier for the engines it's newest sports car and will use BMW's Turbo 4 and Turbo 6.

It's pretty widely expected that the Supra will have BMW drivetrains in it.

For example: https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...ylinder-supra/

Now strictly speaking, it doesn't confirm outright that the engine will be a BMW engine, but considering the co-development of these cars, and the fact that the Toyota is also using BMW elements on the interior including the gear selector, as well as the ZF 8-sleed, it makes a lot of sense that they would also share engines or at least a compatible engine from BMW, such as the rumor that the engine is the same spec as it appears in the X5.

Edit: Well now that E46CT mentions it, yeah the engine codes are identical.

^ Nah both engines are lifted straight from BMW and dropped in the Supra. No question, no debate.

I re

posted this a few months ago here. anyway R&T got a hold of a Toyota internal document some time ago. It's been circulated.

Those codes circled are internal BMW codes for the respective engines

Audi, MB are doing the smae thing trying to squeeze out all the horse power they could get. I wonder how they deal with heat problems.

plenty of heat exchangers, air inlets. higher capacity systems (more water) probably fine for street use but track/race use might be tricky.
