IS200t Sluggish
Unfortunately it's going to be a lose - lose situation in the eyes of most prior Supra owners (or enthusiasts in general). If it is amazing, everyone will just say it's because of BMW. If it sucks and over hyped they will point to Toyota that they don't know how to make fun vehicles anymore. I hope I'm wrong too.

You can think it's nonsense but the Supra boards have already been littered with negative discussion because of how much "BMW" is in this car.
Like I said, we should be thankful they're even bringing a new Supra to market, in the era of the SUV. It's not like Toyota needs a Supra in their lineup. They'll probably be happy to break even on it.
Most of these Supra fans littering boards with negativity are just kids or people who played Initial D as kids and want to relive their younger days, but not actually buy the car.
Why does it matter what collective group/brand a car's components come from so long as the car performs well? It's kind of immature to sit there and go BUT ITS NOT TOYOTA ENGINE! and dismiss a car before it has arrived. A lot of Toyota and Japanese car fans in general look at BMW, Audi etc. as "the other side" and feel there's an inherent need to immediately hate or dismiss anything that doesn't look or smell like their "side." And it exists on the European side too but nowhere near as bad. Lots of european car fans COME from japanese cars in their past (like myself), but not the other way around. So you tend to have european car fans who respect japanese cars but japanese car fans who never got a european car because they have to stick to their "kind." It's immature, really to have that mindset when there's no objective basis behind it.
For a sports car, you just kind of have to toss out any of the "perfect reliability" demands out the window. More technology, more power comes more responsibility.

Im with you it does bother me that delay. Didn't think it would now that I own my is200t but now I wish I just bought the 350 as the gas mileage isn't even that great on the 4cly. Do you know if we can now get this update?
