Default TPMS sensors question

I bought older lexus wheels from someone who used them on his IS350, I have a IS250 F sport. I didn’t get the TPMS senors installed but my car is still giving me my PSI readings for each wheel. Would it be possible that the wheels already had them installed and my car connected to them or is that impossible. I can see the pressure going up and down depending on the temperature outside.

Unfortunately that would be impossible. For the vehicle to read the sensors the code for each sensor would need to be programmed into the vehicle.
If the vehicle is parked near the wheels you took off, it's possible they could still read the pressures, but it's highly unlikely.

Drive the vehicle for more than 20 minutes consecutively and see what the readings are then.

My wheels are not close and I drive more then 100km a day. What would show on my dash if my sensors were not reading my tire pressures? I can see the pressure going up and down like my summer tires. Since i got my winter tires installed I have driven over 500km.

Who installed the wheels? If it was done in a shop most likely they registered the sensors to your car.

I got them installed at Costco, I didn’t tell them to do the TPMS because I didn’t know the wheels had them. Would costco even register them without charging me?

Some places will program the wheels without charging you. I know NTB did that for my car. If the sensors weren't registered, you'd see "---" instead of a numerical value. The Lexus dealers like to charge to reprogram but maybe Costco was more customer friendly like the NTB.

Most tire shops include programming in their pricing if they know it needs it

When possible, usually costco would move the sensor from the older tire to the newer tire

Sensor is attached to the wheel, not the tire. All they usually do is replace the seals on them to make sure no leaks occur.
If you bring new wheels they would transfer them over and still replace the seals etc and it should be included in their price. Usually places ask if your car has TPMS because they will add on the price for TPMS service.

Probably they transferred your TPMS sensors for you, doesn't require any programming.

they didn’t swap them i still have one wheel on my winter set missing a stem valve cap. I’m guessing they programmed it without telling me. That’s my best guess.

They did program them because if they did not, they would not be regognized by the car.

If you have to switch back to your previous wheels for any reason, you'll figure out if they programmed the new sensors for you or cloned the old sensor values
