Default Got the IS an eco-friendly buddy!

Welcome home to my second CT200H F Sport. This one is a MY15. I had a MY16 before. For those that don't know, it's basically a Prius in a suit.

My first trip home I got 50.5 mpg indicated. Loving that. It's in excellent condition except the dent on the fender. Plan to get that PDR'd. The interior is mint.. Steering wheel leather has no sign of wear whatsoever. Whoever drove it before must've worn gloves. lol. The seats are the same. All factory new. no wear. anywhere. All wheels.. perfect. no rash. The front tires were replaced by the dealer with some generic no name tires (at least they're new) and the rears are nearly worn out "OEM" Michelins. So I'll need to do some tire shopping in the near future.

For now the mods I'm doing are audio (subwoofer/amp and front focal speakers/amp), LED interior bulbs, and most importantly 3" BI-xenon projectors w/ OEM Lexus/Denso ballasts, CBI D2S bulbs, and led projection fogs. The ballasts will be potted and running on a dual relay harness for optimum reliability. I may darken the front grill surrounds..or just get stock chrome like the 16+ models. haven't decided yet. The bottom one has a bunch of rock chips and has a scratch.

May post a build thread in CT section soon. So follow there for updates. Nothing exciting though. no bags, no slamming, none of that nonsense. This is just my commuter car to throw the dog in and have fun listening to tunes. The paint is 9-.9.5/10 so a minor polish/cut with a DA. I plan to keep it quiet and comfy... but i must say it has a stiff ride stock. I'll have the IS for a while, it's nice to have both.

Got the car with an empty tank so this is first fill up.

And this was my first CT... i miss the color =(

if I could go back in time, I'd tell my young sell "install an oil catch can, in your brand new CT"

grats, I personally like the white color better than the blue

since this engine seems to be particularly sensitive to that, i'll look into it. is it easy to plumb up? id rather not tear apart the whole car to introduce a set of potential problems (new plumbing) and vacuum leaks.

what if you just replace the PCV and clean the pipe at regular intervals (say 25k miles)

Does this car have an issue w/ oil? I am considering recommending this car to my sister as a DD.

def easy to plumb up, here is a useful thread for some plumbing ideas:
https://priuschat.com/threads/oil-ca...-knock.179588/

I did replace my PCV twice (with oem parts), and on both occasions it would still dump oil into the intake manifold

cleaning the EGR pipe would be a good idea. But the EGR cooler before the pipe, would still have carbon build up, and that part is a huge PITA to clean

The PCV dumps oil into the intake manifold, thats the gist of it

(side note/separate issue, some motors may eventually start to consume 1 qt per 1000 miles)

I'll probably do it at some point soon. I do see the PCV valve design could use some improvement and did receive it in the 4th generation prius iteration. However some oil in the intake manifold is normal. Just the nature of oily gassy beasts engines are. My BMWs used to be wet in the manifold as well as all that i've worked on. And that car has an elaborate PCV system-- not just a simple valve. I'm sure many fleet Priuses go well past 300k stock. Plus didn't Toyota revise the intake manifold and/or HG for 2015? I seem to read mixed stuff on that.

they did revise the intake mani at some point, I forget the exact model year. prior to selling my ct I did slap on the new PN intake mani for the next owner. I genuinely hope the guy gets more life out of the car than I did

at this point, the world is un clear if that new mani slows down the damage, or alleviates it. time will tell

Ahh, you already know OP, since we are/were both on the CT sub-forum, I miss my CT so much to this day. Congrats on getting another!

Thanks! Yeah something about the CT gets me. The IS is fun too though. It's interesting to switch back and forth.
