Default OEM Interior LED lights

I'm a'17 IS F Sport new owner, not much into mods but one low cost / subtle mod I'm interested in is switching my interior yellow light bulbs to LED. There are a lot of LED aftermarket packages out there, and one common comment I saw when I searched was the quality. Many of those flicker from the start and/or don't last long. So I'm thinking of going OEM to the dealer and asking them for the LED interior lights to upgrade. Presumably they're available for those who optioned the lighting package, which if I recall was never an option on the F Sport. Any of you guys tried this? Btw the after market LED package prices fluctuate like crazy, so if you'll still go for after market, suggest you shop around nicely. Thanks!

I buy all my LED mods from Diode Dynamics. They may be a little on the high side but the quality is top shelf. I have never had a problem with anything I've purchased from them.

I changed all my interior lights with LEDs from Amazon, was like $10. Nice bright icy blue and none of them have flickered and or gone out thus far.

Didn't know that there was an actual OEM LED package for 17-20 IS models, regardless whether it was an F-Sport or not? If there is one, I'm sure it'll cost you a pretty penny from the dealer (which would give you the same output as quality aftermarket ones).

I'll attest to your post responses above. I have a 2018 and have swapped out all interior bulbs to LEDs from Amazon. I used the JDM ASTARS bulbs and purchased 2 packs for around $25 I think from Amazon. As you mentioned, I have experienced flickering with a bulb or two and easily swapped them out - to this day since the swap out a year and a few months, no issues whatsoever.

As with anything you buy online, there are decent quality ones and the cheap knock off ones that don't last. There are a ton of people here who swapped out their bulbs for aftermarket LEDs and had no problems at all. For me, JDM ASTARS worked well for me and for the price, I still have 8 or so 'extra' bulbs in case any need to be changed out.

I have had many years of experience with Vleds brand and have them on previous cars with no issues with exception to one bulb.
When I contacted the company with my order #, they sent me a replacement free of charge since within their 3 year warranty period.

There latest bulbs have very even light distribution and various options for White color selection ranging from 5K,5.5K, and 6K.

No matter what brand you decide, I strongly suggest to purchase one pair and confirm you are happy with the color, brightness, and light distribution

I tested a few bulbs on the IS to reassure myself that Vled's 14LED 5.5K are the right bulb and color for my desire.
Left: Vled, 14 LED 5.5K Middle: Philips 194W, 6K Right: Superbrightleds 194 5SMD LED light tower, 4K

One more thing... I'd highly recommend buying a plastic panel popping tool (Amazon has kits for as cheap as $7-10 that includes a ton of stuff) and not using a flathead screwdriver to remove those light covers in the interior. It's very very easy to scratch and damage the outer trim of those light covers with a metal screwdriver, so use a plastic tool instead.

As long as you have a 2014-2020 model (not sure for 2021+), you can reference these videos to get an idea how to pry off those covers without breaking anything:Hope this helps!
