It’s hard to tell what it could be. Have you tried to get your codes pulled with a OBDll scanner? It could be the power steering got damaged when you hit the hole. Getting the code(s) would be the first step in trying to diagnose your problem.
You will need the Techstream software to retrieve the EPS codes. OBDII scanners will only retrieve powertrain codes, so engine and transmission related codes.
Unless someone has developed one that goes beyond that...then please throw up some links to the product, cause that would be very useful than just an OBDII scanner.
You can just go to your local Toyota dealership and ask them to pull the code. I have a mechanic near me who specializes in Toyota and Lexus. Try and find one of those if the stealership tries to rob you. Or if you have some car and computer skills get it off eBay

What ended up being the problem with your car? I’m going through the same issue right now and I’m trying to see if i can fix it myself before taking the car to the stealership.
