Pads can make a BIG difference more so than calipers, depending on the car. I find the F-sport pads pretty aggressive for an OEM setup that isn't brembo or the like. Are there more aggressive pads out there? Sure. But they will require temperature to work, may not work in cold temperature climates, and will be noisy beyond belief (pads like Winmax W6, or 999). Most driving a Lexus aren't seeing that kind of requirement, myself included. Its more economical to have an aggressive race pad and separate street pad then spend a LOT on an all around pad, which are mega money.

Okay? No one is disagreeing on that so I’m having a hard time figuring out what your point is in relation to the topic of the IS and it having decent stopping power and not awesome stopping power with stock F Sport pads or Akebonos.

Yeah, our brakes are relatively good. One of my friends just got an F Sport and said he thought the four-pot brakes were "overkill". However, if you are a more skilled driver and actually want to drive this thing on a track, yeah not so much. But compared to most cars, the brakes are pretty responsive and have class-competitive stopping distances, especially with the F Sport pads.

And I particularly like the initial bite. Takes some getting used to though - my wife pretty much throws me forward in the seat at least once if she drives, lol.

I think Lexus messed up not putting the 2 piston calipers on the rear it's a little bit annoying to me. The stopping power between my G37S and my IS really bugs me. The braking power stock is pretty good, but it could have been better I get thrown in my seat in my G not in my IS lol.

It's still a Lexus, they tend to go more conservative on the "street" models and crazy on the F models.

Yeah it just sucks because other manufacturers deck out their cars and are the same price or cheaper than the IS but I’m willing to deal with it for the reliability factor that Toyota/Lexus brings. I guess I could always find the 2 pot calipers from an F car and install it.
