Default Question about trunk functioning on 2017 model

Hello everyone. I just noticed that when I push the trunk button on the remote that it unlocks but it doesn't open fully. Coming from an RC 350, where the trunk would fully open upon release, I would expect the same of the IS. Can somebody please confirm that this is correct and the trunk on the IS does not open fully when released? Thank you.

IS does not come with automatic trunk. When you push the button of the fob or inside the cabin, all it does is unlock it.

Bummer huh?

This is normal function on the IS. I dislike this too. Its a hassle when you're opening the trunk with the remote wirelessly and your hands are full. My guess is that Lexus thought that the user would have to apply upward force when pressing the actual button on the trunk anyway.

The trunk on my Acura TSX also used to open halfway until I had a 2nd spring installed for the other arm which allowed it to fully open upon release. Not sure if the IS could be remedied the same way...

The RC is slow and heavy and BLAAAAAAA. And those 3 rubber black strips on the rear, like tf.

RC cost more than the IS, and way less practical. But it does come with parking assist, mem seats with the fsport tho.

No regrets. I actually like the IS better minus the no fog lights, no memory seats, no auto telescoping steering column, no reverse tilt side mirrors, no park assist, and no trunk pop-up on the F-Sport! It's ironic because I initially loved the body style, and after a year with it I was getting tired of it. The IS is just classier.
