Default Has anyone updated their Navigation SD Card?

I was wondering if anyone else here has updated their navigation map SD card. Is it as simple as popping the old one out and popping the new one in or did you have to do anything else?

I got a new card, PN 86271-78013 and it is stuck "checking data" forever and never gets anywhere.

I have a 2015 IS350.

How do I check to see if my 2016 is200T is using the live version? or the sd card version?

According to the chart on the Lexus Navigation site, you have the right card.
http://www.lexusnavigation.com/what-to-order/

As for installing the updated card, closely follow the directions here to install:
http://www.lexusnavigation.com/how-to-install-update/

The Gen 8 instructions are second from the bottom on this graphic at the time of this post.

The Lexus Navigation site should give you all the information you need about how to update, what you need to update, what the latest update is, etc.

Happy navigating.

Thanks, I should have posted those links as I was aware of them and followed the instructions, as difficult as it is to see them on that website. I just wanted to see if anyone has actually done it and had success or if there is some little step that they assume you know about that I didn't do.

No special steps that I know of.

As for the graphic that contains the instructions, once the image loads, click on the jpg, this opens up the image page where you can click on the image to zoom in to view at full scale.

As for being stuck in a "Checking Data" loop, this thread may be helpful (make sure your card is seated properly):
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...een-stuck.html

Also maybe here, but this thread is addressing a functioning nav system locking up.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ocking-up.html

If all else fails, sounds like a trip to the dealer for a reset might be needed.

Thanks, I'm pretty convinced that I have a bad SD. I have swapped the old and new SD cards several times, it is not a seating issue as the old one works every time and the new one never works.

I was hoping to hear if anyone actually needed a "reset" to get it to work. I expect that the instructions you linked to would mention a reset if it was something that was necessary.

May very well be a corrupt or bad card, yes.

A system reset may not be something the customer can do... may be something only Lexus service can do. If your system works with your old card, I suspect your system is fine, and that it's your card that's actually the issue. I'd replace and re-assess.

Because it's so easy to copy data from one SD card to another, Lexus has linked your VIN to the NAV updates. If you bought one online and not through the dealer then you probably just threw your money away.

Probably? Are you just guessing about this or do you have a source? How would my car know what map it should be running? Why do the Lexus install instructions (linked above) say that this is an update the customer can do himself?

I'm not guessing. One of my best friends is a director at Sewell.

You can buy an iphone mirroring kit from beat sonic? By default you can't do what you're asking.

Well my friend has an IS350 and he is using the gps from Satellite, not the one from his SDcard.

There seems to be some confusion regarding what is on the card versus GPS. The micro SD card stores saved map data and POI information. The GPS system in the car is what actually links to the GPS satellites to provide current location data, this location data is then overlaid on the saved map and POI data from the card to provide in-motion navigation.

If you are wanting to show a phone app or Google maps on the in-car nav screen, you will need to mirror your phone to the screen (see threads on mirroring screen), and to have that stay active while in motion, you will need to install a bypass system, like what beat sonic offers. Hope this clears things up some.?
