Default Anybody else shocked on 3rd Gen IS Value? (2014)

Looked to possibly end my lease early with my 2014 IS 250, but was surprised to find out how much this car has depreciated since I first got in in May 2014.

Anybody with similar issues? Thank God I didnt buy it.

Yes it's terrible! however if you check out what the 2006 is250 still goes for? It's still around 10k right? For a 10 year old..? Hopefully the depreciation slows it's roll for the next 5 years or atleast I tell myself that.

so what are the numbers from the dealer? Post is kinda pointless asking other owners for similar issues without sharing your numbers

Sorry for the lack of information.

I have 35k miles on my car, and KBB is $23k on dealer trade in, $25k to private party. I have the F Sport package. I will have to check paperwork on residual, etc. I believe selling price was $38k before TTL.

My is350 f sport just got a $26k trade in with 48k miles. Yours seems pretty good considering its a 250.

I agree. The 250 is also a discontinued model too.

Will be a discontinued model a bad thing or good thing in the future, I have a 2015 AWD F Sport 3 Series, I'm wondering if the fact that Lexus won't make them anymore will give them a little more value? What you guys think?

Don't wanna burst your bubble. But, a 250 wouldn't make it on a car collector's list.

most cars lose half of its msrp by year 4 to 5, worse if trading in. After year 5, the decline in value slows down to a halt. There are new inventory that's 1 year old on lots and dealers are willing to take 20-25% price reduction.

the only way to combat this issue is to negotiate well when buying or leasing to soften up the blow

Sell the car before the warranty is up

I had a 2009 IS250 before this and sold it before my warranty ended. I noticed the price dropped a significant amount after the warranty ends

The Lexus IS model holds its resale/trade-in value better relative to most brands/models..... Recently however, used cars prices are being pressured lower as new car sales numbers slump-------rising incentives = lower new car price = less differential between new & used prices = lower used car prices.

I was considering trading in my 2016 IS350 F-Sport with ML, Nav and BSM with 6500 miles to a dealer last weekend. They offered less than $37k, and they wouldn't budge at all. I decided against it since the buy off was nearly $42k, and I wasn't willing to take on $5k in negative equity. According to them, at best, they could sell the car for about $38-40k, which honestly sounds about right, given that my negotiated cap cost was about $44.5k. I think the real benefit of these cars is that they leas so well due to pretty decent discounts from MSRP, good residual values, and low money factors. Would be difficult to lease another $50k car for under $500/mo with $0 down.
