Default 200t-should I pull the trigger?

Hi everyone, need advice I'm always apprehensive of new engine lineups. considering an IS...I don't need the power of a 6 cylinder but have never driven a turbo and I worry about long term reliability and maintenance. I'm considering a purchase so just want to make sure. I'm actually considering this or a Prius...strange choices I know but just want to keep my next car long term, I realize they are two different cars but I've never drive a hybrid. Decisions, decisions....thanks everyone!

I've had the "Prius" aka CT200h and currently have the NX 200t for 1.5 years already. Both are bullet-proof reliable. I would not hesitate with either.

One thing to consider with the 2L Turbo is it requires a cool down period before shutting down the engine. I idle it for 10-15 seconds after city use or a little longer after long highway use. Manual says longer but I feel this is fine since I have a fairly light foot. Failing to do so over a long period of time may impact the Turbo's effectiveness and long-term reliability.

Maintenance... both just require oil changes along with the occasional air filter and other minor tuneups later in the mileage.

Finally, I have to make the obvious statement. Prius @ 50+ mpg on 87 octane vs ~25 mpg @91 octane...

Owned my 2016 IS 200t for almost 6 months now. Loved everything about it. No issues so far and it's comfortable and fun to drive. 80/20 freeway/city mpg is 23.

Thanks corradoMR2, NX nice! Thanks for the tip on the turbo, tough decision...Just not sure if a hybrid is worth it to me if I only drive about 30 miles a day.

You're welcome. If saving 30$ a week is important, get the Prius. Otherwise, you'll have a lot more fun with the IS 200t. The Prius is nice at low speeds - really quiet and smooth but give it gas and gets a little buzzy (eCVT/engine). The 2L Turbo on the other hand is very smooth to redline and with the 8-speed and paddle shifters, is a LOT more engaging to drive.

Get the IS.

Will strongly consider for sure...I didn't research my current car enough because I had to get it in a rush so I'll stuck with 20mpg and would like to get back to a little better mileage. Should have gotten the IS back before the strange grille design came out. Maybe the look grows on people dunno....

If you're really leaning towards a fuel-efficiency car. Maybe check out the CT200H.

I fully loaded one is maybe MSRP around 38-40k. You can probably get one OTD for around 35k.

Prosgal, get the IS350. Really. If you plan to purchase and plan on keeping it a long time, the difference in cost can be justified. It's a ridiculously good car.

long term? that sounds like IS350 written all over it. choice between this and hte prius? you need to see what your priorities really are, but i would go between the ct200 or the is350.

no benefits whatsoever in getting the is250 or 200t.

I don't want to offend anyone on this thread but what about the Toyota Prius? If we're talking hybrid. Just asking because the CT seems kind of small and sits lower...I know it's no Lexus haha

i'd recommend the 250/350 if you want PROVEN long term reliability. The 200t may end up being reliable, but no one knows for sure yet

For those recommending the 350 vs the 200t just wondering what the pros are to justify the cost. I do care a lot about long term reliability and worry about maintenance costs. Thanks everyone in advance for your comments appreciate them!
