Make sure the gas door is pushed closed all the way and latched when attempting to lock the doors. Sounds like maybe the mechanism that locks the gas door shut is hitting the latch at just the right angle and popping it open instead of locking it shut.
Im having a different problem with mine, when i unlock the car with the Fob all doors open except the driver's door took it to the dealer and they changed the lock or so they say but its still happening once in a while. Pretty annoying cause then i have to open the door from the back door or passenger side....
I lock my doors and the gas door pops open. It's like the locks are out of sync.
Has this happened to anyone?
I had the same thing happen. It was driving me crazy as I would have to check the fuel filler door everytime I locked the doors. The funny thing is that it stopped just like it started, without warning. Everything seems to be fine now. No Idea of what happened.
@JB5674 -- Like passat774 said, the gas cap plastic tether is getting in the way, make sure it's tucked in properly, then the fuel door will close correctly and not pop out when you lock the doors.
@juvi22003 -- Check out pg 107 in the manual. It shows you how to change the unlock function of the fob. Maybe you just need to change the fob setting than change it back again to get it working right. Idk, worth a try.
I am having this issue rite now. I will remove my cap and replace it. The kid at the gas station probably stuffed the tether back in incorrectly last night. No big deal. Glad I found this thread and bumping for anyone else having the issue. Will report back that my problem is solved or not.
My gas filler door clanks loudly when I lock the car. It also sometimes pops open. This becomes much worse during cold temperatures. I asked my useless dealer to look at it 3 times ove the past 2 winters, now the dealer says it is "normal" but their loaner cars and my wife's NX doesn't do it because the mechanism on newer cars may be different. What a joke. If anybody has a real solution, I'd like to hear it.

I had this happen to me with in the 1st year after buying my car. The dealer 1st adjusted the locking mechanism thinking that would fix it. Which it did for about a month. After getting it adjusted a 2nd time, they advised that it may need a new gas door. A week after getting it adjusted, it started popping open again when locking my doors. I dropped it off and they ordered a new gas door. The tricky part is, is that it needs to be welded on. After they welded on the new gas door, I haven't had any issues.

Make sure when closing the gas door the plastic cable sits below the gas cap and not to the side of it. It fits better this way and should solve your problems.
