I picked up my 2014 IS in late august 2014. When I checked the map version date, it was 2013 July. That's already over one year ago.

Is it reasonable to ask the dealer for a free 2014 map update ?

Btw, is the 2014 US & Canada maps out yet?

 

You can certainly check with the dealer but unless you are in real estate and constantly going to new developments or you live in a "boom town" (like Tyson's Corner, VA) where there massive amounts of new construction, maps that are even 4-5 years old aren't usually an issue.

Lexus map updates usually come out in the fall, around November as I recall. More information can be found here:

I highly doubt they will do it. I understand where you are coming from though. From what I was told by the Tech guys at Lexus/Toyota Headquarters is that they develop 1 new map update per year. Every car made after that date will get that new update, until a new update is put out a year later. I wish they would be at least 2 a year, but I'm sure they only do 1 to keep costs down. It is worth a try though! Maybe your dealer will update it for you, however, I don't think a newer version of the software is due out for another month or so.

 

My 2015 has 2014 maps (June from memory )so there is an update. Depends if it's a world map update though as I'm in Australia.

 

I will give it a try at the dealer for free map update. Never hurt to ask.

But before it go, I need some to confirm the map updates for 2014 US & Canada are available .

Per the link I posted in my earlier reply, no, the 2014 update is not out yet. Look for it in November.
