Default mirror tilt when backing up

When I first got my IS the mirrors would tilt down in reverse. Somehow this stopped working. I went through all the settings, but I don't see any way to turn this feature on or off. Any ideas? Thx.

I had the same problem

I put the car in reverse, then manually selected one side at a time - lowered it to where I wanted it to be, put it back in drive, then reverse again and it worked - just repeat for the other side.

butt yes same issue it just stopped working for no reason - all good now.

For the tilt-down mirrors to work, one of your mirrors must be 'selected'. For example, when you are adjusting your mirrors, you choose the L or the R button and a little light turns on. If you push it again, it turns off. One of these buttons must be selected as 'on' for the tilt-down mirrors to work. I usually leave my L on.

PARANOiA2M, mine still didnt work with this.. the mirrors (when I selected reverse) actually moved up a mm or so, almost like they were 'trying' to work but didnt - same with L and R - only thing that worked was me manually setting where I wanted it to dip, drive, reverse - then all good.

and I have an F Sport - Australian spec though with dipping mirrors.

gotcha, and stupid Lexus...that should be a standard feature when the car is equipped with things like rear camera and bsm especially when they are not going to offer a package to have it,smdh

pretty surprised its not a feature on the f sport in the US.. it should be on every model it will save your rims!

i HATED when it stopped working as I have never curbed a wheel in my life and this feature really makes sure I keep it that way.

I mean we do pay a lot more over here but

mark lev
bsm
heated/ventilated
seat memory
dipping mirrors

etc is standard

you only pay more for the EP1 (moon roof only) or EP2 pack (moon roof, pcs, lane departure, radar cruise)

but hey we dont get fogs either..

I forgot to mention that your tilt down mirrors are actually a setting for while you are in reverse. Once the car is in reverse, as long as your L or R are selected, you have to actually set the mirrors yourself--once you do that, the next time you shift into reverse, it will return to the last position you set it to when you were in reverse.

Reflecting what PARANOiA2M has stated, as with every other Lexus with Memory Seats, selecting the mirror switch to "L" will allow both sideview mirrors to tilt down. If still no go, there could be a problem for you to have the dealer check it out. Good luck.

If the mirrors tilt down you cannot see what's on the side of the car when backing up. I know there are rear view camera and mirrors but normally when I'm backing I can catch pedestrians and bicyclists in the side mirrors first.

Thanks this turned out to be the cause of why it stopped working.
