Check the mirror adjustment switch. The mirror tilt in reverse only works when the selector is set to adjust the left or right mirror. It doesn't tilt in the middle position.

Silly question but do all IS models do this? I have an 06 IS350 without nav. But always have my mirror switch in the middle position. Does this mean if I keep the mirror selector to my passenger mirror that itll tilt down when I reverse against a curb?

You can set it to either side. It lowers both mirrors in reverse.
I have an 06 IS350 also without nav and it has this feature.

How do you set this? I tried pressing the mirror selector to “r” for passenger side and put it in reverse and nothing happened...

some members are saying that you need to have the memory seat package to have auto-tilt mirrors. I do NOT have memory seats. I am assuming you do...?

Ok that makes sense then. Yea I have no Nav and no memory seats so I’m prob exempt from that feature.

Yep that was it! I put the mirror adjust to L or R and now they tilt down. The drivers side mirror still has problems it doesnt always tilt or return to the normal position.

Mine also has the same issue. Which is why I deactivated the feature (by keeping the switch in the middle position).

The mechanism inside the mirror housing may need a good clean and lube,
see here (courtesy of UK LOC )

If the feature is not used a lot, they tend to stick (as in my SC430). But with some mechanical moving of the mirror, they tend to work better. Means need practice.

Correct, the mirror reversing tilt down is related to the seat/steering wheel/mirror memory system.
Ironically while the memory system saves the mirrors position for driving forward for each driver 1/2/3...
the backing mirror position is the same for all drivers, not saved in the memory. On or Off as we have
discussed by selecting or centering the mirror control but not assigned to each driver.

Which is crazy because I just got a 2912 honda crossstour and both of my mirrors adjusted at the same time. Well my rear windshield got broke and after they replaced it I noticed they were adjusting anymore. Only if you have them on L or R.

so back to the question even if it only remembered 1 reverse angle, how do we save that 1 angle (suppose that we want to save it at a lower angle than the default)?
