I have owned many cars over many decades. I can usually drive about three hours before I get back pain, forcing me to ask my wife to take over. Since my wife got her Audi A5, I raised my limit to about four hours.
Well, yesterday I drove my 3IS F Sport EIGHT hours straight (wiith brief gas and food breaks) and no pain at all!! I wasn't even stiff getting out of the car! That hasn't happened since the Eighties.
So, I suppose I have to give credit to the manufacturing process, materials and driving position of these seats?
This is one of the areas of engineering excellence of the 3IS. Not in the flashy superficial tech bits and options like its competition has that is very appealing at first, but in the substance like in the seats, chassis, driving comfort, reliability/quality, and overall fun-factor.
Those seats are so good. They are very supportive and superbly comfy at the same time. I simply don't want to get out the driver seat every time after a drive.
I 100% agree. I just returned from a 5 hour trip (one stop) with zero pain or discomfort. I also had the opportunity to play with the different modes. Super fun!!!
Side note: I realize that cruise control is a must for me in this car. I looked at the speedo at one point and was waaay above how fast I thought I was going.
Yes, these seats are comfortable. They hug you in the curvy roads.

I find myself in the same situation. The pucker factor exponentially goes up when I look at my speedometer above the speed limit and a cop is nearby especially on the interstate.

I will echo Fox's sentiments as well. Took my first decen distance drive yesterday and it felt effortless. If I was in my 2IS for the same trip I wouldnt feel as relaxed. 2IS is noisier, less smooth, more harsh. I remember driving 2.5 hours to San Antonio in my 2IS after I got it back then and I felt a bit worn out afterwards.

i like to refer to the feel of the seats what i might imagine it would feel like to sit in a large baseball catchers mitt.
The seats feel amazing. I feel like it's a professionally molded seat built for me (and hundreds of thousands of other 3IS owners). However, my wife for the love of god hates it. I'm an average build 5'11 guy and my wife is an average build 5'4 woman. She complains that the seat sits too deep and the side bolster of the bottom cushions are too big/high. Even when elevated at the highest setting, the side bolster makes it difficult for her to get out of. I know Lexus created a driver/fun-oriented car.. but perhaps it's also much of a guy's car and gave little thought to women. though I wonder how other women drivers (like ipinky) deal with it or if they even have the same problem?
