P0024 Code (Random & Doesn't Stay)
Hey, so I have a 2015 IS250 AWD F-Sport and I got Check Engine Light with the code "P0024 "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 2". I first got this code last summer but I decided to make a note of and it clear to see if it would come back. It didn't come back for 6k miles. I then cleared again and the same thing happened, it didn't return until thousands of miles later. I spoke with a mechanic who I trust and know and he pretty much said that as long as the car isn't misfiring, idling rough, and the light doesn't stay then it's most likely the sensor itself. From my knowledge of working on cars I came to a similar conclusion purely because there is no misfire or any sort of performance loss when driving. Also the fact that it happens randomly with such long intervals suggests that it's not an actual issue with the car just the sensor. I could be wrong as well as my mechanic so I wanted to see if anyone had any similar issues and solutions other than replacing the Camshaft Position Sensor? (I saw something about replacing the solenoids instead but I'm unsure about that as well)
Also, I am having trouble finding the exact location of the sensor for "P0024 "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 2". I was able to find diagrams online but there are two sensors and I'm unsure which one is which, from what I can gather it should be the on the right side of the motor (looking towards the car) and on the exhaust side (bottom/lower one), but idk if that's correct either. The part numbers I found are "90919-05061" and "90919-T5005", but once again I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone direct me to the exact location (preferably with a diagram) as well as an exact part number? Thank you!

You are right that it's the exhaust on the driver side (LHD).
Are you going to try to replace the oil control valve or the camshaft position sensor? Because the part number 90919-05061 is for the intake camshaft position sensor.
It is worth checking if there is any debris stuck in the oil control valve.

As for the part number for the camshaft positon sensor, do you know the right part number? So far the one I had in the original post is all I found.
The part number for bank 2 exhaust camshaft position sensor is 90919-05060.
Just worth noting that the service manual does not state that the camshaft position sensor is a "trouble area" for P0024. Instead, it lists the following:

Obviously though I don't want to replace the ECM if I don't have to. Though I did find this in regards to the ECM. The link should be in regards to a service bulletin noting that this issue is known and the repair procedure. Unfortunately I don't meet the requirements needed for me (I am over 80k miles), so I'm unsure where I'd go from there. I could be wrong but I just happened to find this while doing some searching.

I actually did some more digging as well as speaking with a Lexus tech and he informed me that I should try and test the Camshaft timing oil control valve assembly first. I should be checking for it to feel gritty when manually moving the valve. But I do also very randomly and occasionally get the code P2610 "ECM/PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance" but the code doesn't come at the same time as the P0024. So maybe it might be an ECM issue but I'm also unsure. I haven't checked all fuses but I would assume that if a fuse was blown then I would have a larger issue of being on consistently as well as other issues to other stuff connected to the ECM.

Even though you say you don't meet the requirement it wouldn't hurt giving it a shot at the dealer.

I do not believe the two codes are related. The P2610 code has to do with waking up the ECM to perform malfunction checks that can only be performed after the engine is stopped (I think EVAP would be an example of one of those checks).
