Does anybody know a Gentex (or any other brand) model number to replace this mirror? I would like something that has backlit buttons and hidden compass if possible. Thanks!
I have a 2010 GS350 mirror in my car. Hidden compass. Felt like it meshed better with the somewhat dated interior of the 2IS compared with the frameless mirror.
The rearview mirrors are all very similarly mounted to the windshield and the electrics are fairly simple and usually they all share the same wire harness. So if you can pick out a mirror from a different Lexus vehicle, that does everything you want, they can be swapped pretty easily. You should try and stick to as close of year and equipment as the original mirror is. If yours has homelimk, try and pick a replacement with homelimk. I find eBay can be very helpful with this stuff. You can pull up plenty of choices, get a look at the wire harness, and the mounts. And find the best choice for features and compatibly. If u can't find one that will plug into your original harness, you can just cut the plug off the old one and wire it onto the new one, without much hassle.
Anyone ever tried one of those mirrors with the built in back-up cameras? I see them all over Amazon/Ebay selling for anywhere between $50 and $200. Always wondered how they really worked. I don't trust Amazon reviews these days.

They're typically pretty meh due to the small video size. If your car already has a backup camera, this would be a downgrade, but if it doesn't, it may be worth it if you want a backup camera. Some newer cars have the video display in the mirror like this one does, mainly because they don't have a navigation/display to show the video the typical way.

If you're not looking at having to rewire anything, this is actually the best route tbh. I don't believe the older style mirror found in earlier IS's has the compass in it, so it should only cost the $99.
