My 2006 has the compass in the mirror, so I think you are mistaken on that point.

Yeah most of those backup-camera mirrors are junk because the rear camera is of poor quality. I had one that had great reviews (for my pickup) and the rear camera failed in 4 months. There was no way to buy a replacement camera so I had to toss it.

Mine has the compass and the homelink buttons so that is why I decided to use the refurbishing service. Does yours have homelink too? If so you're losing that functionality.

If you want to go with a newer look, there's the frameless option most new Lexus models ship with from the factory. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...w-install.html
Can either of you confirm that for a compass mirror/auto dimming mirror, the only input needed is power/ground and uninterrupted +12 to keep compass happy?

I'd like to fit a mirror to the bare bones Tundra. The issue being, the mirror is the nearly the size of our visor.

Thanks!

Still interested in a model number here?

I swear I don't recall it having a compass, it hasn't been in my car for so long that I just didn't remember. Found it in the closet and confirmed it does have a compass.

I'm pretty certain its a GNTX-536, but with an OEM part number on it. I haven't been to my car yet due to some travel issues, but I went through some old emails and its a 536 with an OEM part number on it.

This was probably 5 years ago or so, but I want to say yes. I know I ran a ground down the A pillar, and tapped into two wires in the headliner.

Does anybody know a Gentex (or any other brand) model number to replace this mirror? I would like something that has backlit buttons and hidden compass if possible. Thanks!
I replaced the mirror in my '07 IS350 last year with this one; https://www.ebay.com/itm/15416235591...4AAOSwbWNfk0V6

You want to confirm the electric connector is compatible and there is a tutorial in the ad. The Gentex I replaced my old "foggy" Lexus OEM mirror with works identically to the original and even looks the same. I was glad to get the crappy mirror out of the car. It's a very simple install and instructions for calibrating the compass were included but only consisted of driving in a circle as I recall. Mine calibrated almost immediately before completing even half a circle. That crappy old, fogged mirror used to annoy me every time I'd drive the car so I considered it money well spent !

I have one like this.

It's an "HGDO" brand mirror from Aliexpress for around 120 € / 140 USD.
I spent a good amount of time trying to find one with a good quality rear view camera. I chose this one as it was advertised to have some Sony IMX sensor based cameras, 1080p at the back and 4K to the front, and actually the picture quality has been surprisingly good, even in the dark.

The whole-mirror sized screen is quite nice for backing up as I have the non-nav/camera IS250 and I find the visibility to the back is not the greatest.

It has mirror-like screen surface, so functions okay as regular mirror while the screen is off. Takes signal from reverse light wiring and switches automatically to the rear view when backing up. Functions also as a dash cam to the front and back (recording to a SD card).

Of course there was a bit of wiring and installation work to get it all set up.

It's been now over a year in my car and haven't had any problems with it. I wanted a dash cam anyway so this mirror has been good for that and the backup camera duties.

First post here, and figured I would start on this thread since this is the first "mod" I will be doing to my recently acquired IS 250. When I picked up the car a couple of weeks ago, I tried, in vain, to get the Homelink to connect to my Liftmaster Garage opener. I thought I was taking crazy pills and tried so many different ways to try and get it to link. Then finally hopped on here and discovered that newer Liftmaster garages don't play nice with older Homelink systems like the one in my mirror. So I ordered 2017 RC350 mirror off of eBay from a totaled car, though strangely enough the listing said that it has some sort of Lane Keep Assist option, but I could not find any documentation to support that, so I am thinking it was in error. I have found other posts of folks getting the same part number mirror and installing it without issue. Hoping this will be the case for me as well, regardless I will post again with the results and any lessons learned from my attempt.

Thanks for that link and info. Can you look on the back of the mirror and tell me if the model number is GNTX-1124?

Quick update, if you decide to go the path of using the existing connector and you are depinning the new mirror and old mirror to swap connectors. Be careful on where you decide to pull the wire, as I have found out the hard way, you can pull too hard and break the wire. I have to now repair two of the wires...

The back of my mirror has: MODEL HFCHL4 which cross references to GNTX-1124.

Q?
How well does the auto dimming function work? My 2013 never dims enough to be effective IMO.

TIA!
