I noticed my 2006 IS350 RWD with 100k mi started smoking today. The smoke is coming from the drivers side header area and is also visible under the car.
The car has always had a sulfur smell after a WOT pull, which I understand us somewhat normal.
It is white and smells burnt. It is not sweet smelling and not black, blue or grey.
First question: is it dangerous to drive? I don't want to burn my car down. It smokes as soon as the car is up to temp.
Second question:. Is it likely the precat on the header failed?
First thought that comes to mind for me is spilt oil somewhere, or an oil leak that may have sprung. After that, I would think either something is burning thats not supposed too or roadkill/trash may have entered somewhere. Get it inspected and on a lift to check things out.

I think something leaking is a good possibility. Although, I don't see any coolant lines running over the driver's side exhaust manifold. I will inspect the area thoroughly and check my coolant and oil levels. If one is low, I will have an idea about what to do next.
Any idea what could be leaking onto the driver's side exhaust?
Mine has never had the sulfur smell, even after taking out the intake box mesh and with axleback.
Have you checked engine oil levels?
Am just saying, wouldnt it be a good idea to remove all the engine bay plastics, flashlight ready (possibly fire-extinguisher), start the car and wait where it is coming from once it is up to temp...?

I am going to do that on Saturday. I am driving my wife's car for the time-being. I hope it's not a valve cover gasket issue.
You need to check all the fluid levels and get it up in the air. There isn't much possibility for transmission leak there unless you just had it serviced.
