I'm currently replacing the valve cover gaskets. I took off the intake manifold to change those gaskets and clean the carbon build up while i have everything taken apart. I found this part laying in the engine bay and I'm unsure where it goes or what it is. It doesn't look super important but I'm hoping someone can identify it so I can return it to its proper home. Thank you in advance for any help.
Car is: 2007 Lexus IS 250

Copy. This peice was definitely not part of the intake manifold (IM) /valve cover (VC) job. I don't know where it came from. Is it something unrelated to the IM/VC that maybe fell off during disassembly? It looks it could be a thumb screw cover for the switch/sensor that tells you whether the hood is open or close. But I looked all around the hood perimeter interface and can't seem to locate where it fell off.
That's definitely not a Toyota/Lexus part. It screams aftermarket. Could have been left in the bay by accident after someone else worked on it. Could also be an aftermarket kill switch cover or something like that.

That doesn't look like a Lexus part. The brass on that piece makes me think it's something to do with washing a car, like a pressure washer accessory or something that someone in the past dropped in your engine bay and was never able to find it.
Roger that. I'm glad my initial suspicion that it was not important was correct. Thanks for confirming fam. However, after putting it back together multiple times, I have bigger issues... I'm going to start another thread :-/
Once at a Lexus dealership to do a full inspection. Then shortly after that a mom & pop mechanic shop to get new tires, new disc brake pads, and bleed the brake lines.
