Default Need help with headlight

Hello all,

I am in need of some help. Please be nice if I'm asking some pretty dumb questions here haha.

On my wifes 2007 IS250, I'm fighting a passenger side headlight. She said her low beam went out, so I checked it out and got moisture in the housing. I pulled the bulb, got it completely dried out, and saw a small crack in the top by the center mount. I thought I sealed up the crack, but after 3 days and replacing the bulb it got moisture again and new bulb went out. I think I'm going to just replace the whole housing and be done with it, but holy cow they're expensive. There's a small chip on the very edge of the outside not to the seal but both of those make me just want to replace all together. I could sell her driver side and get some money back out of it I think.

It's the HID with the adaptive auto adjust deal where when you turn it turns too some. For the price of a used replacement, I feel like I could replace both of hers maybe with standard. We're wanting to replace it (well, I do with a newer one haha), so she said she'd be fine with the regular ones if they're cheaper.

My questions are:

Can I buy "regular" housings and replace them both and are they plug and play?

Would any lights or anything extra have to be removed to go back to halogen?

Dumb question here, but other than the sticker on the low beam bulb door, can you tell from the outside of the housing if it's hid or has the auto adjust, or are the hid and regular the same housings?

Thank you in advance, I really appreciate it!

Nick

Best to go used or after market for the entire assembly. I would check eBay you can find a lot of stuff there. Be sure and get one that has HID + AFS.

so its not oem but is there a slight difference that reminds you they are not oem, or they look identical minus the lexus badge, also does this brand make a 2012 retrofit for the 2007 models?

I have a TYC HID replacement on my drivers side. It looks the same on the car as my oem passengers side, but there is a few differences. The TYC has a clear lens on the projector whereas the oem looks like its frosted. It has a good output and beam pattern with a crisp cut off, i like it better than the oem. It looks a little different though than the original from certain angels but overall it doesnt bother me. If you could a set i think itd look great.

I took a few pics this morning to show what the TYC looks like. On the drivers is the TYC and oem on the passengers. The oem is getting yellow and needs a good clean up, its been on there 10 years! lol. The TYC i replaced in the spring.

Thanks a lot for all the replies!
I'll go with a tyc I think, for the money it's worth a shot.
I can't believe people are asking 250 to 350 for these headlights with broken tabs. Crazy!

Yeah I've heard good things about TYC. I would never have known it wasn't OEM had you not told me.
