Question How high does IS 350 trunk pop up when using remote?

Hi, everyone. I was recently rear ended by a semi truck and had to have the back fender and trunk lid area rebuilt on my 2012 Lexus IS 350. When I got my car back from the auto body shop, I noticed the trunk doesn't pop up anymore when opened with the key remote. The remote just unlocks it and it remains closed. I took it back and the auto body shop asked me how high it popped up before when opened, but I really don't remember exactly. I just remember it popped up a little bit. Can anyone give me an estimate of how high your 2012 Lexus IS 350 trunk pops up when opened with your key remote?

I don't truly know the answer to this, but I can tell you mine doesn't pop up even an inch from the latch. There were times were I opened the trunk from my key fob on accident, and would have no idea it was open until I turned on the car and the little screen tells me.

Mine pops up about 1/16 of an inch. Basically it 'clicks' and just sits there. NUTS, but that is the way it is. I hope that your car is back to looking great again.

yeah it pops but still looks closed until you lift. that's normal. 1/16 of an inch is about right lol!

Would switching out the OEM trunk struts for more powerful ones fix this issue so it will rise up all the way?

if so I’d be interested

probably not due to the design of the trunk system. My $26 Amazon no name struts work good, it does 70% of the lift travel. On the reverse, it takes more muscle to close.

I replaced my struts a month ago and with the remote it pops open a crack but doesn't open until you lift it past the 60 degree angle

I honestly don't think they are supposed to pop up when you open them.
I think it's a purposeful design from Lexus, so that there's less to go wrong as the car ages (more reliable since less crap to break).
