hey guys me and my girlfriend just bought this beast a couple weeks ago, its got all the bells and whistles except for bluetooth i was wondering if anyone had any options to being able to make phone calls on the go and if it can do music as well that would be great although not needed. anything aftermarket or oem is considered ive been looking at the parrot systems and they look pretty cool, thanks in advance

You can buy a bluetooth adapter that plugs into your aux jack but it has limited functionality (no control from the car, only from the phone).

Buy a bluetooth adapter that automatically turns on when it has power so it automatically pairs with your phone and plug it into the aux audio jack. Simple and easy, but everything will need to be control from your phone.

Another option is to buy an adapter from Grom Audio, a little more expensive and little more work, but some more functions as well.

There is also touchscreen aftermarket navs other there, but currently no one makes one that completely works with US cars (airbag light issue).

Edit: probably works for you if you're outside US and not have the passenger airbag ON/OFF light in the stereo.

I am new to the IS world and haven't even purchased ours yet, but if I can install hands free bluetooth in a 98 Acura, it can certainly be done in an IS.

Basically in summary without getting into intricate details, I added an aftermarket aux adapter to the factory harness (not necessary on the IS?) and bought this from Amazon

Amazon Amazon

I "hardwired" mine so the device/microphone is just above the A pillar trim cover and the wiring is all tucked. I added an additional 12v outlet from an empty spot in the fuse block and added an in line fuse as well. I placed a USB charger in the 12v and connected it that way. I tucked the 12v/USB underneath the dash so the device would turn on when the car did and the 3.5mm cable that attaches to the stereo aux behind the stereo. The only part that says it's not factory is the small device above the A pillar, otherwise it's tucked and buried. You may need some extensions and adapters to make it all work together.

As for the Soundbot I listed above, it sounds better than any aftermarket bluetooth I've ever heard, and people on the other end have commented on the clarity when I told them I am on bluetooth.

*I have zero affiliation with Soundbot nor did I receive a discount for purchasing. (hear that Soundbot, send discounts!)

Check out GROM's line of Bluetooth kits. Plug and play and uses all factory controls. Automatically pairs when you turn your car on as well!
