Default DRL LED Conversion Help

I recently ordered 2 LED 9005 Bulbs for my IS in order to match the DRL's to my 6000K HID low beams. However, when I installed the DRLs only come on when I turn on the high beam function.

I searched all over the forums and haven't found a solution.

Do I need a decoder for this conversion to work? I have the same issue with the fogs.

Thanks ahead of time.

Yes, you need a decoder for them.

Your DRL bulbs work by outputting a lower voltage to the bulbs and then on high beam the voltage increases. Incadescent bulbs can operate at lower voltage, at a reduced output. Where as LEDs have a minimum threshold voltage to illuminate.

The decoder module will bump up the voltage to work with the LED.

The decoders that came with the bulbs I bought weren't good enough and I had a slight flicker. After contacting the company (ebay seller), they sent me replacements that worked great! No problems since.

Thanks for the reply!

For installation of the decoder, is it just plug and play? I just ordered one off of amazon to try out on my fogs. I really want to get rid of these yellow halogen lights and make them look like yours!

Did you ever have your DRL function off? It's sound like you disable DRL.
It's support to flickering if you don't have decoder but not completely off unless you disable it. Double check it!!!

I never disabled the DRL. Is there anyway to check? I heard you have to take it into the dealer to have them turned off.

You can have Toy or Lex do it. Some cats have the software and specific plug for it and can do a lot with their laptop.

I would prefer to do that also. My last car had DRLs that were not defeatable. Good to know they are on this car.

Do any of you guys have a good place to mount the decoder? I heard it gets hot quick. A picture or diagram would be great
