Default Cam Gear Recall

Hey All,

I brought in my car for the cam gear tsb/recall and I'm a bit concerned. The car has been in the shop for going on 3 days now. I've been told the recall is quite comprehensive but is this excessive? I almost want to swing by and check on the car tomorrow after work.....

Any input?

It is a 3-4 day service and longer if the dealer is full of recall services.

I brought mine in at 8am Friday and got it back 5pm that same day. Dealers are only allowed to book 1 or 2 per day depending on how many qualified mechanics they have to do it as it is a 7 hour job.

3 days is starting to sound a bit excessive.

Agree'd. The only thing that could take 3 days is if they did not have any parts on hand. I actually had to wait a weekend for mine because the tech also noticed the tensioner was not within spec and they ordered a new one while everything was apart.

I brought mine in at 7am and they called me by 6pm to pick it up the next morning. I was told that they would not be making the appts UNLESS they had the parts, for it would not only be taking a loaner car but it would increase their liability if your car is just sitting there.

I'd go by and ask whats really going on, and check on your car while you are there.

But then I'm over protective like that.

I said 3-4 days cause I called all local dealerships in Socal and they call told me 3-4 days, which is why I am holding off on the recall, especially when they ran out of Lexus loaner cars (did not want an enterprise rental).

They have a contract with Lexus on how much time they can spend. some use the full limit.
