I have a quick question, while cruseing down the road going about a steady 45mph and in 6th gear (according to my gague display that shows my ave. MPG, ave speed, what gear im in ect...) in just D not "s" mode, and not in ECT. power.. I give my car prob not even a half of inch of gas my RPMs shoot up and go up about 1.5k and my gague computer display shows that I am still in 6th gear? I dont understand what this is because it sounds like its downshifting but really its just going up in RPM very fast and just staying in 6th gear. In every other car I havve driven if i am in automatic and give it a little gas it will just gradually go up in rpms and not just shoot up with staying in the same gear. WHY IS THIS?

 

Not all cars are the same?

The computer in the car will determine if its needs to downshift for added power, I don't think this is anything to worry about.

 

The car is drive by wire. Throttle input is determined determined the the computer depending on your previous driving habits.

 

Mine does the same thing! It does make it seem like the gear indicator is off. But i dont know. Also if you get up to about 10 mph and let the car roll in second gear....Then use the peddles to select gear 2, you can clearly feel the engine engage and the rev jump up as if it was in 3rd gear all along.
