Default Vent Noise

Can anyone explain this noise? It comes on when the defroster and recirculate is going. How much will this potentially cost to repair???

This is the clicking noise cause my improper installation of the cabin air filter. Someone installed the air filter without putting your car in recirculation mode and broke the flap.

It is a costly repair. The part is relatively cheap, but the labor to remove your dash will be very expensive. You can do a search to find the cost; I don't quite remember the cost, but i think its a couple hundreds

So put it in re-circulation mode, turn it off and proceed to change the filter? If not what exactly is the proper step? I'm planning on changing the cabin air filter soon.

theres a DIY in the FAQ section for changing the cabin filter.

here you go : http://dev.siteguardian.com/IS350/DI...abinFilter.pdf

make sure to put it in recirculation mode.

Thanks for the link. Funny how the write up didn't even mention the most important piece of info regarding the recirc button.

Wow that is terrible lol. I'm glad I did it properly when I changed my cabin filter. As with the post above, I believe some damage has already been done. Changing the filter now might now solve the problem as the flap might be broken.

So, I just went to change my cabin filter today and I noticed that I didn't have it on recirculation mode, but the flap comes up really easily, without any force. I am guessing the previous owner broke it? I just recently bought the car and it seems to be fine since I don't have that grinding noise? When I did put it in recirculation mode, the flap moves up just fine.

Should I be worried that I'll eventually have that problem too?

If it's functional when you put it in recirculation mode, then you shouldn't have any problem.

wow thats what it sounds like when its broken? dam i thought i broke mine as well because i didnt have it in recirc mode when i changed mine when i first bought the car. but mine makes a very faint "clunk" noise when it switches between recirc and fresh air mode. so maybe mine isnt broken at all because it sounds nothing like that.

hope you get it squared away man

i think in his case it sounds like that cuz the broken piece is in the blower, given that is the reason for the noise.
