Often times, debris becomes lodged in a vent like possibly a cigarette pack wrapper etc. This contributes to a/c or vent noise. If the noise does not persist when simply the vent is on, you may have a bad clutch assembly on the compressor.

Check to see that all vents are open. Often times, if someone closes one vent, more air is forced through the open vents, thereby causing some noise.
