Called the Lexus dealer today to get a price on having them make me a spare fob and cut a key.
Just wanted the price.
There is a locksmith near me who can do it for $219 plus tax. That's a brand new fob, new key that is cut, and the fob programmed. I went there yesterday, and its a brand new denso fob. They have a bunch in stock.
The tech I spoke too at the Lexus dealer said he needed my VIN in order to give me a price... Why? I can log onto Sewell and put a new fob and key in my shopping cart and they don't ask for my VIN unless I'm having them cut the key as well.

Maybe their system just needs a VIN number to look up a specific key fob? That could be how they are categorized in their system.

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but OP did you get the fob programmed and key cut at the locksmith?
If so, is it a chain or a mom and pop just up by you?
Thanks!
