Default Question about purchasing a CPO

Hi,
I'm very excited about purchasing my first 09 IS250. It's a CPO car and while I was looking it over I noticed that where the front bumper connects to the front lower plastics , most of the clips and the tabs that the clips go into are broken (probably where Someone hit a parking stopper or high curb) and that some of the inner wheel well plastic clip and connectors are broken.

My question is if the dealership is required to replace any broken body pieces before I take the vehicle. I mentioned it but got a pushy salesman that said it was a super good price so they can't fix any issues because they are already loosing money.

I thought that CPO vehicles had to be inspected and any broken items be fixed to pass CPO inspection. Is there any way I can raise that up and make them repair those items?

I'm excited to get the vehicle but want to make sure intake care of anything before I take it off the lot.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

They are inspected. But then they're turned over to the bumper painter that sets up in the back lot to repaint pitted bumpers to match. Sometimes they take clips out and break them in the process and don't say anything.

The dealer should replace any of them no charge and no hassle. Honestly though, knowing the problem with the piston/rings in that engine, do you REALLY want to buy that car?

What type of issues do the piston rings have. I extended the CPO warrenty to 6 years.

I put a down payment already and am picking the car up on Tues. But want to make sure that I can ask them to fix all clips and under bumper panels.

Skip the sale men and talk to a service rep. He will be the one that take care of those issue. They have a check list they go by for cpo. Little thing like that doesn't disqualifies it from being sold that way.
Road rage you trying too tell everyone not to buy an 250? Not all them have that issue.

Be prepared to walk away from the deal if they don't fix broken items...the end.

Dealers NEVER loose money on cars. Let them know you will walk away as there is another IS that you are looking at and then hold your ground on them fixing any thing you have issues with. Never fall in love with a car before it is yours. It could be possible that the car has been modded and than returned to original condition by the old owner and the dealer didn't notice.

Go to the dealership during normal business hours and talk to the sales manager. With a cpo car nothing should be "broken". Tell the manager that you don't feel the car has been reconditioned to Lexus standards and you're not feeling good about the deal. They should take care of you.

Great, thanks for the advice. I should have probably asked around before we put down some money and signed the papers We are bringing the remainder of the down payment on Tuesday because they said that they were waiting on a replacement rearview mirror that was missing.

I will bring up the broken plastics again and see if I can get them to replace them. I read the CPO "statement" and it says that upon CPO inspection any flawed items will be replaced at Lexus quality standards, so it kinda gets me that this CPO has these "flawed" items.

Thanks for everyone's advice.
