state farm denied "diminished value"
Hello everyone,
I posted couple weeks ago asking about the process of filing "diminished value" on my Lexus. Anyway, it was fixed and paid by State Farm. The damage was minor roughly $600. I called State Farm to file "diminished value" and they denied my request. Is it normal because the damage was minor? What can I do now? Should I let it go because it's not worth it? Thanks in advance

I don't know how it work In your state. But here any claim you make to body damage is on file. Value does drop to a dealer aspec and a individual buyer. Someone scraped the driver side of my old 250 $1500 to paint. Mind you scratches not body damage.on the trade in dealer said not a clean fax on the car.

Yes it was a rear bumper repaired and painted. Well I let carmax appraised the car before it was fix. They gave me $16K even for a 2008 IS 250 RWD with 62K mile including x package. According to kbb.com, $18,175 for very good and $17,425 for good condition. I'm pretty sure if I get the car appraised again with the rear bumper fixed, it'll be less. What would you guys do in my situation?

It's not worth the hassle for $600 or even $1,000. If you had frame damage or MAJOR repairs I'd worry about it.
Consider it a lesson learned and move forward.
Cheers!

I went to Autotrader.com, did the instant offer, with and with out a accident....take the difference, its the "diminished value", clear as day. I submitted the paperwork to the other parties insurance. Faxed and faxed and faxed. Then called and called and called. It will take a lot. But it worked. Got my check. I think state farm likes to use to old "Georgia Rule" as they call it. Sounds like that is what they did to you, since they denied your claim.
