I just completed attempting to fix a 2007 Nav Touch Screen that stopped working. Removed the NAV unit and got to the touch panel. Attempted to use a CircuitWriter pen to make the connections on the ribbon cable and the touch screen panel. This seems to be a known defect reported widely in the forums.
When I got everything back together and the car and powered it up... I have no power to the top of the NAV unit. The radio works, and the time comes on - but no power to the touch screen and no lights to the buttons that immediately surround the touch screen. (Security light on NAV solid when car locked, blinks when entering car, goes off when car starts).
I took everything apart - checked all connections and plugged everything back in.
Still no power on the top. The time works. The security light works. The radio works. The Touch Panel and all of its lights don't even start up. Not my night.
When you said you took everything apart, did you also take apart the entire center assembly? There are 4 connections in there that you removed to take the touchscreen portion out. Two of them are small wiring harness and two are ribbon connectors.
you most def forget to reconnect something, i just did the same thing over the weekend and everything went back in and works great, only bad thing is that i put a scar on my dash and i feel horrible everytime i get into my car now.
I have exactly the same problem (and because of the same reason - I tried fixing my touch screen in exact same way that you described) and I have no power in my navigation panel, but the clock works. Did you ever manage to fix it?
