Default headlight replacement

I am considering replacing my headlights and fogs this weekend with either bright white or HID bulbs. Can I just buy bulbs or will I need any sort of special kits to replace all of my front end lights? Autozone has Bright White and HID bulbs, and was considering buying them, but im just not sure what the plugs will look like once I get into it.

For example, can I just buy these for my fog lights? 24 dollars seems too good to be true to change the look on my fogs.

The first link you posted are not HIDs. The second is HID bulbs for your highbeams.

Did your car come with HIDS? If so, all you need is the bulbs for your headlights (D4S I think? Someone correct me if Im wrong) If your car did NOT come with HIDs, then you need an HID kit (kit = bulbs + ballasts) with H11 bulbs.

As for the fogs, you need an HID kit as well because the fogs come with halogen bulbs. If your car is 06-10 you need 9006 bulbs. If its 2011+ you need H11 (Again please correct me if Im wrong).

Please avoid buying from eBay and support our vendors. I recommend XenonDepot

Thanks for the info. I am almost certain the car does not have HID lighting in it. If the kit is difficult to install/expensive, I might go with the step down (something that doesnt require a kit to install). Please pardon my ignorance, i want to DIY change out my lighting with a less tacky orange color to a more bright white, but dont want to spend a ton of time and money on this. Do I need halogens then?

White Halogen bulbs are slightly more white than the stock bulbs, but personally, I would just spend the money and get an HID kit and call it a day. HID's are about x3 brighter than the stock halogen bulbs and last much longer and also give you the color you want.

As long as you get the proper size, it should all be plug and play. I have not seen many Lexus vehicles without stock HID's for the headlights so I'm not sure how the installation would be like (because the car has a cap over the light and with stock HID's, you just replace the bulb and the cap locks back on). Since HID's have extra wiring, you MIGHT need to leave the cap off or perhaps even drill it out if you want to have it on, but I can't say for sure, someone may have to chime in on this.

For the fog lights, it should just be plug and play. Just find a spot to mount the ballast. If you have any more questions, let me know! We sell HID's and LED's

Headlights: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-pictures.html

Fogs: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...for-cspec.html

What do you mean by lighting? Your low beams and fogs? If you want bright white you should get either a 5K or 6K HID kit. 5K: Bright white color. 6K: Cystal white with a small hint of blue. And an HID kit is not that expensive. It depends on who you get it from. I will suggest you check out XenonDepot. You pay a bit more than other companies but the quality is top notch. You def get what you pay for.

Yes, you need to drill a hole through the moisture shield for the bulb to fit. You need to be careful with this so you dont end up getting any condensation inside of your headlight

Thanks for the confirmation. I wouldn't worry too much about condensation in the headlight without the cap because the cap is just to prevent dust from getting into the housing. The headlight is sealed pretty tightly at where the bulb twist-locks into the housing, all bulbs have a gasket/o-ring on it to prevent this from happening, as long as the bulb is properly installed in the housing, it should be fine.

We've sold our DRL Kit that has to keep the dust cap off and there have been no problems with moisture getting in since we started selling it.

Ive noticed that there is a difference between the moisture shield for the headlight bulbs and the one for the drl bulbs/parking light. Mositure seemed to only get into my headlight before and that was because the shield wasnt sealed completely. No issues with the drl/parking light shield though.

This all answers my questions/concerns perfectly. You guys are awesome. iJDMTOY, link me some kits/bulbs that you would recommend, I will be checking Xenondept as well. Anything that is just plug and play, with some custom mounting, im ok with for sure.

Here you go sir.

I believe that the headlights are H11 (for non-HID models) and 9006 for the fog lights, but please double check before you make the purchase. If you have any questions, let me know by emailing us or by PM'ing me (email is probably quicker).

Go with the Morimoto's from the Retro Fit Source.com. I have them and cannot say enough about them. I wanted a bright white with a slight tint of blue. I got them with a great price, awesome customer service, and the best part being AMAZING warranties. Not a 3 month warranty that most vendors carry.

I have an 06 is250 and I used the D4S Morimoto Xgen bulbs at the 6000 Kelvin and the 9006 full HID kit for the fog lights. I am going to snap a few pictures tonight but honestly spend the cash and get the assurance that you are covered by a great company and bulb.

About your OEM headlights...if they look white like a bulb inside a grocery store light then you have HID. if your headlights look like every other car on the road or like a normal light bulb inside your house then its halogen. google it.

Honestly though check out the retrofitsource.com
The D4S have a no hassle no problem warranty. Had one bulb blow and they had me take some pictures and a new bulb was on my doorstep in 2 days. no questions asked and no shipping back broken parts. Did I mention they carry a 5 YEAR WARRANTY!!!!!! 5 years > 90 days. The 9006 kit I got is obnoxiously bright and worth every penny. Check out the warranty on that kit and every component!!! I have done a tremendous amount of research on this stuff and tried a few vendors/companies and I am now a retrofitsource customer for life.

GL and feel free to ask questions. I can give you instructions if the need be.

I was looking for something that had a bit of a blue tint as well. I dont want to copy your setup, but it sounds realll good! Based on your description and my understanding, my bulbs are halogens, so I will have to get kits. Once I get started, I am definitely referring back to this thread. Thanks for your help all!
