Default HID Fog light problems

My hid fog light on the passenger side goes on and off. It would only work sometimes and when i drive for a while it would go off. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or if anyone knows what is wrong with my fog light. Im not sure if its just the wiring, the bulb, or if i need a new ballast. I had the wire tightened a while back but it still has the same problem. Any advice would be much appreciated, Thank you!

I would start by checking the connection, and then the basic trouble shooting form there. Could be a bad bulb or ballast or just the connection

I was having the same problem with the HID kit I put in the low beams of my LX470. After much trial and error I determined that both the Ballast and bulb were fine, it was a connection somewhere. I basically re-tightened and reinforced every connection with electrical tape, even those that snap together with the plastic connectors, and I haven't had a problem since (3 months). My guess is that the problems are the + and - connections that reside inside the dust cover in the light assembly but I couldn't pinpoint that so I just reinforced all the connections.

3-4 years is quite some time for most HID bulbs, probably just a bad bulb if you've had no issues till now.

You can always swap the right and left and see if the problem continues. If the drivers side fog lights starts failing afterwards, its the bulb. If the passanger side still does it after the bulb swap, its either the wiring to the ballast or the ballast.

1-check connections(if connections are good, then move to 2)
2-switch driver side bulb to the passenger side
>if bulb stay on without shutting off you've found your problem. New bulb is needed
>if bulb goes on and off then a new ballast is needed

hope this helps.
