Default dash problems

So i took my 2007 is350 in for service around the beginning of May and mentioned that the dash was rattling over the slightest bumps. They diagnosed the problem and ended up removing the dash to insulate it and whatever else they had to do. My car had 60000 miles at that time and they did not mention anything bout charging me for anything. I figured that was since i had brought the problem up while it was still under warranty but they could not duplicate the sound at the time. After getting my car back and driving it i then realized that the steering controls werent functioning. So i took it back and they fixed that. After about a week i noticed the dash wasnt fitting right. So i decided to keep driving it around maybe it would settle in . Then i noticed the foam above the air vents on to top of the nav screen was not sitting on the vents and there was a gap starting to form. It seemed as tho the foam had been torn up inside the dash and it was no longer glued in. Since the closest lexus dealer is about 45 min away (Hendrick Lexus Charlotte NC) and i had already driven back once i figured id explain it to them on my next service (two days ago). Now after them "investigating the matter" they claim they cannot do anything about it except replace the dash since they claim it was defective which would cost ME $1600. I explained that everything was fine with the dash until they tore it out and worked in it. Let me add that around the radio and nav there were cut marks where the technician tried to pry it off. Then they started to blame the windshield, and radio that was taken out (by them to also insulate). They started to say that they "goodwilled the dash the previous time. I then explained now a goodwill job from them is gna cost me an arm and a leg. I told the technician i bought a LEXUS not a KIA. These things should not be happening since lexus bases theyre philosophy on Quality and Perfection. He stated that they would take pictures and send them to Lexus Regional and see what they would do. Isnt the stealership responsible for a job the performed? This is ridiculous. Is there anything i can do? What do you guys think?

Talk to corporate, looks like the dealership messed up. FTC, BBB!

This is why I decided not to take my car in for some minor dash rattling. Is not worth the hassle.. they might even cause more problem to my car while trying to fix the rattle. In your case they did.

they said they are going to send pictures to Regional so i guess i have to wait in the meantime. rattles were extremely annoying and very loud. i sounded as if the dash was about to fall off. i mean should we be scared to take our car into service for a problem in the craftsmanship? its just unacceptable

I have a 07 IS350 bought used. No rattles. Knock on wood. I've been to that dealership. Their prices are super high. Good luck.

Unfortunately there's nothing anyone can do to help - this is just going to be something you fight with the service manager and Lexus Corporate, if necessary. It's clear to any reasonable person that they're in the wrong. You came to them with a problem, they offered to fix it goodwill, and they ultimately did a poor job and caused problems instead of fixing them. You should clearly point out that the new problems you're experiencing with the dash (as well as the scratch marks) were not there before you brought the car in.

yes that dealership is wayyy too overpriced but its the only one near my house. i have been trying to explain to them that the problems were clearly results of their poor work. they still will not budge and said since i didnt bring it in immediately they cant do anything.

This is why I will NEVER have my dash ripped out for some stupid rattles. It always ends up being more of a hassle and causing more problems then its worth.

Turn up the radio - that always solves my rattle problems.

Oh and BTW EVERY car will eventually rattle. My last car was a top of the line gs430 and it STILL had creeks and rattles throughout.
