Default Vaistech SL2iC question?

I have the SL2iC on my IS250 and I know it comes with the "iPod Out" feature. But i'm wondering, since I got rid of my iPhone, can a regular iPod(iPod Video, etc) work on the unit with the "iPod Out" feature. I can't stand listening to constant played out radio music.

Mods, if its in the wrong section, please move. Thanks.

The "iPod Out" feature only works with iOS devices (i.e. the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, that's it).

CORRECTION: The SL2iC does NOT allow you to use non-iOS iPods. The only VaisTech device that features iPod Out AND support for non-iOS iPods is the ML+.

Does this works on a non-ML non-NAV 2IS? I got interested and I am tired of having to fish for my ipod from the arm rest to change a song... Also, would this be worth it or should I get the one form sewell since I don't have the Nav?

^ The ML+ should work, but it would be an incredible waste of money since the primary selling point of the ML+ is the slick nav screen interface. You'd probably be better served by an SL2i-UP or VML. Both are significantly cheaper and integrate with your car's audio controls.

I was thinking on getting the VML kit, since it will also let me use my phone with the USB port. I just wanted to know, if it was worth it since I don't have the Navi...

^ The only advantage I can think of is better sound quality with the ML+, but the VML might be digital as well. Whether or not that's worth $200-$300 is up to you.

is it a big difference in the sound quality between the Vaistech SL2iC and the ML+?

Is this for certain Brociouz? I wasn't going to buy this because I thought it won't let regular ipods work at all which is a deal breaker for me.

Not exactly. The iOS device (iPhone, iPod touch or iPad) essentially renders a graphical interface for your nav screen. It doesn't mirror your device's screen, but exports a simplified video feed. I suggest looking at the usage videos on VaisTech's website to get a better idea.

Not as big of a difference in sound quality as say going from a headphone jack connector to dock connector, but still a noticeable one. I suspect for the vast majority of people, they either can't tell the difference (especially with road noise) or at least wouldn't pay for it.

Hmmm, you know what, I may be confusing features with the ML+ which I know for a fact allows usage of non-iOS iPods. Now that I think of it, I remember coming to the exact same deal breaker conclusion as you.

I just checked the SL2iC manual - they only list iOS devices on their compatibility list so I guess older iPods do NOT work with the SL2iC. Thanks for catching that, I'll edit my older post.

It looks like iOS device needs to be jailbroken in order to mirror iOS device to Nav screen.

That's no problem here since mine's already jailbroken — I love being able to facetime while I am out at the grocery store or when I want to say happy bday to my friends in BC when I am out. Sorry OFF topic lol.

ANYWAYS — I was seriously considering purchasing this device however with it's hefty price tag and inability to support regular ipods(my girlfriend sometimes brings her ipod classic with her), and plenty of bugs reported by many users it seems not worthy to me. I would rather much just pay $100 for one of the well working ones such as the DICE or USA-SPEC which would support regular ipods as well. Does anyone who actually own this have any thoughts?

I am all for it if it can:
• support old ipods(obviously ipod out doesn't work)
• not be extremely buggy as users have suggested

I am still deciding only because the "ipod out" feature looks great... XD

^ I originally purchased the SL2iC but sold it to a CL member before installing it to buy the ML+ instead (for the extra features and digital audio). I think one of the biggest bonus features of the SL2iC is the navigation destination entry while in motion override (for those that don't want to cut wires). I already have the Prestigious Society override module so no problem for me.
