Mark Levinson Question
Hi im kinda new to this forum and i wonder if my speaker/subwoffer or what it is behind the backseat. When i play music up around 35 it disapair and on lower volume like 20-25 it sounds like it gonna pop out lol. And i have no warranty left.
its most likely the sub that is starting to go, from readin on here that is generally what happens. you could either replacement the sub with another ML sub. or go after market and bypass the factory amp.
just to let you know you can NOT run standard IS subs in the Mark Levinson sound system, they are different ohm ratings and you would end up blowing the sub anyways. it is an 8" infinite baffel sub if you decided to keep it in the factory location, but it would require a tiny bit of cutting/grinding and making an MDF ring to have an after market fit in the current spot.
it can be done, and ive seen it done. but its easiest just to add an amp, a line out convertor, a box, and a sub separate from the rest of the factory system.

^^on your center console, towards the tune ****, there will be the words "mark levinson" if you have the option.
as far as I know, there is no aftermarket sub that will fit inside the factory location, even with a little cutting/grinding. The factory sub is only like 2 inches deep; no aftermarket sub is that shallow. In addition, the OEM mark levinson amp is pretty weak, it won't be able to power an aftermarket amp, so if you do end up going aftermarket, your in for a difficult install.
The good news is, you can buy a brand new subwoofer for $310 from sewell of lexus when you use your clublexus discount code.

thats why i said use a mdf ring to raise the top a bit, it will fit but you will need to cut the carpetting below but it can done. 8" is the biggest that will fit. problem is i think there are like 2 companies that make shallow mount infinite baffle subs.
Here's a good idea for an aftermarket solution: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...x-is-back.html
It's definitely NOT worth replacing the blown sub with another ML one - it'll just blow again.
