Default side-mirrors tilt programmable?

I have a 2008 IS250 - fully loaded. Im wondering if there is a way to program the angle of tilt on the side mirrors when I reverse? Basically, I'd like to be able to see the ground and when it tilts it is not quite where I need it to be. I can manually adjust the mirror once it tilts, but it always goes back to the original spot the next time. Is this possible?

I believe the only way you will get the desired result (having a view of the ground in reverse) is to adjust the "home" position down a little more so that when you hit reverse the mirrors tilt down even more.

on my '11, the auto-tilt in reverse feature only works when the mirror switch is NOT in neutral (neutral meaning set between the L and R).

It has to be set to either L or R for the auto-tilt to function. Hope this helps on your '08.

edit: oops, I mis-read the question....I don't know how to control/set the final position of the auto-tilt in reverse

I dont like the auto-tilt because ot points too much at the ground and I can see like I'm used to in other cars.

Only has my 06 IS350 a few weeks... I need to read the owners manual to see if I can stop it.

You can stop it. Put the mirror select switch in between (neither L or R) and the mirrors won't turn down.

And I love the turn-down feature! Between the back-up camera and the mirrors, I can easily back into any space (or out for that matter...)

Any 2IS with the sport (not F-sport) package or the Luxury package will have this feature. Otherwise it won't.

I don't know. There would have to be some way to send a signal to the mirror when the car is put in reverse. so it could require another wire to accomplish this.
