Default Engine Rattle TSB

I want to take my car in to get the tsb for the engine rattle done. My only problem is, my car does it occasionally. I wouldn't be able to catch it on video since it's not consistent. Any ideas as to what I have to do to get this tsb done?

Mines was the same way I took it in and I didnt think they could replicate it but they did. Might aswell give it a try and atleast have them document that you have had the problem.

Have you read this thread? https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...d-threads.html

You could try to record the sound as well - maybe the SA will consider that enough "proof."

My car is at Lexus right now. They've had the car for about 4 days trying to replicate the issue. I'm hoping they just decide to work on it. I tried recording it, but I didn't get lucky lol

I would say try recording every time you start up your vehicle. I used my phone for this. You'll eventually catch it. Mine would rattle all the time so it only took a couple of takes to document. When it came time to take the car in I simply told the SA that I had the rattle and have plenty of recordings both video and audio that I could submit as evidence. He simply took my word for it and they worked on my car. Goodluck!

Maybe one could try escalating the situation because in the merged thread, I was lucky as mentioned in there.

When I had my car in service, the were unable to reproduce the problem. However since they noted how I described the problem and made reference to the TSB, they were able to get approval from Lexus to perform the work without futher duplication of concern.

The engine starts more stable now with the rattle gone - I hear more "vroom" in it. Same goes for the shut down that the sound is gone for that as it used to one a while rattle during this. So far since I have recieved the vehicle, I have not heard the problem since.

Are you guys close to oil change schedule? I heard the noise when my oil change was due, after getting it done I don't hear it anymore. Could be just low oil level.
