Default Button on trunk

You guys know that button on the trunk? How exactly, or when does that work? I dont mean to sound dumb, but maybe i am reading the wrong section of the manual? It doesnt open the trunk when someone else is trying to open it, yet I am right next to the car?

You have to hold the button down for a couple of seconds. You'll hear the trunk unlock shortly after that. You don't need to have the keys on you for the trunk to open. If you're standing next to the person, I'm pretty sure the trunk should open. At least that's how it works for me with the doors.

the key fob has to be near the trunk area for anyone to open it. just hold the black button down for 1-2 seconds if that and it'll unlock.

***EDIT:
make sure the trunk lock/unlock button is on the unlock setting. thats inside the glovebox.

Its the button directly on the truck, sort of hidden you know? It stinks that I have to be right in front of it, but w/e stupid little things I guess. I love this car, the quality really is something else.

I am gonna get new wheels now, I will post up pics b/c the company is close to me, and they said they will let me at least put the wheels next to the car, to see what design I like. Thanks for the help guys, seriously that was alot faster then I thought.

Maybe, I'm misunderstanding something, but usually when you want to open/close the trunk, you want to put in/take out something, so being right in front of it shouldn't really be a problem.

But if you want to open/close the trunk for someone else while you're in the car...just use the trunk button inside the car or on the key fob?

well its more when I let the g/f drive and she doesnt know anything haha, and I am back there waiting and waiting. Just trying to figure out the little things with this car. You can all laugh, but on my old car, i found I had cupholders in a special place 3 years after owning the car. I never sat back there, so never knew, but that gives you an idea.

lol. Im kinda the same way. I drove off the lot in my Evo RS 6 years ago and didnt even realize that u had to manually adjust the side mirrors. I was driving on the freeway and lookin for the damn switch. Adjusted it when i got to my destination. I really didnt care about that before i bought her so i never bothered to look into it. All I cared about was the way she handled.
